Thailand to Launch ‘National EV Brand’ with Chery as Technical Partner
Thailand is set to launch a ‘National EV Brand’ backed by the Ministry of Commerce, with Chery providing the technology. Other partners include NSTDA and King Gen. The joint venture plans to launch three fully electric models by the end of 2025, including a pick-up truck, an MPV, and an SUV, with over 50% local content. The Thai government will offer tax incentives for the project. This follows a previous failed attempt with Foxconn and is more credible due to direct government backing and Chery's involvement. Indonesia is also pursuing a similar initiative with Geely.
