Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) has launched the facelifted eighth-generation Golf (Mk8.5) in Malaysia, featuring the R-Line with MHEV and the performance-oriented GTI, both CKD-assembled in Pekan. The GTI is available now at RM255,490 (early-bird RM242,990 until Dec 31), including 5-year warranty and 7-year free maintenance. The R-Line debuts a 1.5T + 48V mild hybrid system producing 150 PS/250 Nm, paired with a 7-speed dry-clutch DSG, achieving 0-100 km/h in 8.6s with 5.2L/100km fuel consumption. The GTI retains the 2.0T EA888 engine, now tuned to 265 PS/370 Nm, mated to a 7-speed wet-clutch DSG, sprinting 0-100 km/h in 5.9s. Exterior updates include ID.Light 3D LED matrix headlights, illuminated logo, and sportier bumpers. Inside, a 12.9-inch MIB4 infotainment system with ChatGPT and IDA voice assistant is introduced, along with the return of physical steering wheel buttons.
Mercedes-Benz Malaysia to Launch New GLC200 4Matic Variant with Mild Hybrid Powertrain
Mercedes-Benz Malaysia will soon introduce a new GLC200 4Matic variant, joining the existing GLC350e 4Matic plug-in hybrid in the second-generation GLC (X254) lineup. Positioned as the entry-level model, it is expected to be priced below the current RM398,888 GLC350e. The GLC200 features a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine with a 48V mild hybrid system, paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission and 4Matic all-wheel drive, achieving 0–100 km/h in 7.8 seconds. The variant will also come with the AMG Line exterior package.

On November 6, XPeng officially opened pre-orders for the X9 extended-range electric vehicle (EREV). Positioned as a 7-seat mid-to-large MPV, the model features a starship-inspired smart cockpit and a more aggressive exterior design. GAC Aion UT Super Rolls Off Line, to Launch on Nov 11 with 99-Second Battery Swap
On Nov 5, GAC Aion UT Super—the first "national quality EV" co-developed with JD.com and CATL—rolled off the line in Changsha. To ensure timely delivery, the plant is operating at full capacity. Launching Nov 11, the car features Huawei cloud infotainment, CATL’s swappable chocolate battery, 500 km range, and 99-second battery swap. It previously fetched ¥78.19 million in a JD auction.

Indonesia Auto Parts Sector Remains Sluggish; EV Uptick Hinges on End of Import Incentives
