MINI Cooper, Countryman and Aceman to Receive LCI Updates from 2027 Under New Design Chief
MINI's Cooper, Countryman, and Aceman are set to receive lifecycle impulse (LCI) updates led by design director Holger Hampf, who joined in October 2024. The Cooper and Countryman facelifts are expected in late 2027, followed by the Aceman in 2028. Hampf stated the updates are based on customer feedback and will be substantial, while confirming next-generation MINI development has commenced for an early 2030s debut. The JCW range will gain more distinctive design differentiation; the series sold 25,630 units last year, up 59.5% year-on-year. MINI also plans to strengthen brand collaborations and limited editions, and is developing an off-road derivative based on the Countryman.

Qijing Auto, the first Jing-series brand co-developed by Huawei and GAC, has completed a capital increase exceeding RMB 1 billion, attracting strategic investments from CATL, Bosch's investment platform, and multiple state-owned enterprise funds. As a brand deeply empowered by Huawei's intelligent vehicle solutions, Qijing's independent market-oriented operations are further strengthened. Shenzhen Investment Holdings and other institutions have made their first foray into complete vehicle manufacturing, highlighting the Greater Bay Area's industrial agglomeration effect. The brand will launch two models this year, with the Qijing GT7 set for June delivery and a mid-to-large-size SUV following in the second half.

The updated Dongfeng eπ008 has appeared in MIIT filings, retaining the existing exterior design with key upgrades focused on powertrain performance. The EREV variant features a 1.5T range-extender system with a 95 kW generator and a drive motor boosted to 215 kW, representing a 15 kW increase over the current model. The BEV variant employs a single-motor configuration with output raised to 230 kW, up 30 kW from its predecessor. The model is expected to launch within the year.

The redesigned model features a single Double Cab configuration with five seats, enhanced Toyota Safety Sense active safety systems, a 12.3-inch Toyota Smart Connect multimedia display, and wireless smartphone integration. Customer deliveries for the BEV variant will commence from mid-June, with the Diesel 48V model following in July.

Honda Malaysia previewed the all-new Prelude 2+2 coupe at Sepang International Circuit ahead of its local launch next month. Codenamed BF1, the vehicle measures 4,522/1,880/1,355 mm (L/W/H) with a 2,605 mm wheelbase. Power comes from an i-MMD hybrid system featuring a 2.0-litre Atkinson-cycle engine paired with a front electric motor, delivering a combined 203 PS. The chassis incorporates a dual-axis strut front suspension derived from the FL5 Civic Type R, adaptive dampers, 19-inch wheels, Brembo brakes, and Honda Agile Handling Assist. The interior features a blue-and-white color scheme with high-shoulder bucket seats, button-style gear selector, Bose audio, and full Honda Sensing suite.

Both versions come standard with a 14-inch Toyota Smart Connect+ multimedia display, heated front seats, power back door, and roof rails. Orders open in June with customer deliveries commencing in July.
