Volkswagen do Brasil announced that from 2025, the new Virtus sedan will be produced at the São José dos Pinhais factory in Paraná, in addition to continued production at the Anchieta unit in São Bernardo do Campo. As part of a broader investment of 16 billion reais by 2028, 3 billion reais will be allocated to the Paraná factory for the production of a new pickup and adaptations for the Novo Virtus production line. Volkswagen will also invest 11.7 million reais in health and vocational training projects in Paraná.

Malaysia to Fully Enforce VEP System for Singapore Vehicles from July 1
Malaysia’s Transport Minister Anthony Loke announced that the Vehicle Entry Permit (VEP) system will be fully enforced from July 1, 2025. All Singapore-registered vehicles entering Malaysia must register and activate the VEP tag, or face a fine of RM300. The VEP system was first introduced in October 2024 on a phased basis, initially issuing reminder notices. As of June 2025, 231,018 Singaporean vehicles have registered for VEP, though 15% have yet to activate their tags.

Nissan's Next-Generation Leaf to Launch Globally at Month's End: Positioned as a Crossover SUV with a Drag Coefficient of 0.25
Nissan's next-generation Leaf is set to launch globally at the end of this month. The third-generation Leaf is positioned as a crossover SUV, featuring Nissan's latest design language. The vehicle is equipped with an active grille shutter at the front that automatically opens and closes based on speed and battery temperature to optimize drag coefficient, which is as low as 0.25 (Euro-spec) or 0.26 (other markets). Additionally, the car features electrically retractable door handles to further reduce drag. The rear design remains undisclosed and is expected to be revealed at the official launch.
