Spy shots reveal BYD's first MPV for the Ocean Network, caught charging at a BYD ultra-fast charger. The front light signature clearly shows Ocean Network design language, though the overall profile differs significantly from the Ocean-V concept shown at the 2026 Beijing Auto Show, leaning toward a more traditional MPV style. Equipment includes a large grille, conventional door handles and a roof-mounted LiDAR. The Ocean-V concept was a five-seat MPV featuring a sliding center screen, 180-degree rotating seats, auto-retracting steering wheel, front-row screen extension, hidden tables and one-key bed mode – whether these carry over to the production model remains to be seen. Expected launch by year-end.

The Deepal S07 AI Laser Edition launched on September 28 with 4 variants priced at 155,900-175,900 yuan and limited-time rights price of 149,900-169,900 yuan. Equipped with roof-mounted external LiDAR, the AI laser ADAS covers urban, highway and parking scenarios: urban supports roundabouts, unprotected left turns, narrow road encounters and U-turns; highway enables autonomous ramp entry/exit and intelligent lane changes; parking handles ultra-narrow spaces and dead-ends with remote parking. Interior features a 15.6-inch 2.5K central screen, Snapdragon 8295P chip, 55-inch AR-HUD and dual zero-gravity front seats. The 800V platform delivers 6C peak charging, adding nearly 400km in 9 minutes, with 725km CLTC range and 210kW motor. Standard FSD+HRS adaptive suspension included.

BYD has announced an increase in investment for its Brazilian EV factory from BRL 3 billion to BRL 5.5 billion. The facility, located in the Salvador metropolitan area of Bahia state, is set to have an initial production capacity of 150,000 units annually, manufacturing both electric and hybrid vehicles. Expected to commence operations within the year, BYD's commitment also includes the construction of five residential buildings for 4,230 employees, highlighting the company's long-term dedication and support for sustainable development in Brazil.

FAW Bestune's Pony micro car five-seat version official images released, retaining the current model's small boxy body with sharp lines. Dimensions are 3,350×1,540×1,600mm with a 2,215mm wheelbase, adding 350mm, 30mm and 262mm respectively compared to the two-door version for more cabin space and easier rear access. Launch by end of October. Power specs unrevealed; the two-door reference offers a 41HP permanent magnet synchronous rear motor with 90Nm peak torque and a CATL battery pack.

Proton's new AMA02 A-segment SUV has been spotted with minimal camouflage at a Proton Hoi Keen 4S showroom in Kuantan, rumoured to be named Saga Cross or X30, targeting the Perodua Ativa. Design features slim triangular headlights, a hexagonal grille with diamond-shaped pins, and an X-shaped front bumper. Side elements include S70-derived mirrors and door handles, squared wheel arches, and a dipping window line. The rear shows slim taillights and a massive Batmobile-style wing matching the X50 Flagship. As the second model on Proton's Advanced Modular Architecture (AMA) after the Saga, it uses a new body structure. Powertrains include the Saga's 1.5L i-GT engine (120PS/150Nm) with 4-speed auto, plus a hybrid system (DHT120, ~120kW/163PS) showcased at KLIMS as FutureMotion HEV. Confirmed for Q4 production this year.

GWM Malaysia announces orders are now open for the Wey G9 Hi4 HEV, joining the plug-in hybrid version launched in January which is approaching a milestone of 2,000 deliveries. The HEV provides an option for those without convenient charging access. The Hi4 HEV pairs a 2.0L turbo engine with a 4-speed DHT, dual motors and a 1.67kWh battery for a total output of 358 PS (263 kW) and 782 Nm of torque. By comparison, the PHEV makes 442 PS (325 kW) and 642 Nm with a 1.5L turbo, dual motors and 44.2kWh NMC battery delivering 170 km NEDC electric range (145 km WLTP) and 1,000 km NEDC combined (850 km WLTP). Equipment is expected to be similar between variants, with the HEV also likely locally assembled (CKD) at EP Manufacturing's plant in Pegoh, Melaka.
