Chery has officially unveiled the facelifted Omoda 5, with Russia as the launch market. The updated model retains the original design but features a new grille, flatter LED daytime running lights, and redesigned 18-inch wheels. The interior remains largely unchanged, with dual 10.25-inch screens for the digital instrument cluster and infotainment system. Powertrain options include a 1.5T engine with 147 PS and 230 Nm of torque, paired with a CVT transmission, and a 1.6T engine for the GT version with 197 PS and 290 Nm of torque. The GT version is not available in China. Given that the Omoda 5 has been on the market for nearly two years, a facelifted version is expected to be introduced to maintain competitiveness, though this may come after the launch of the Tiggo 4 Pro/Tiggo Cross.

The Mercedes-Benz GLC 200 has returned to the Australian market, priced from AUD$89,000 (RM248k). It features a 2.0L turbocharged petrol engine producing 204 PS and 320 Nm of torque, paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. The GLC 200 also includes a 48-volt mild-hybrid system offering a 23 PS/205 Nm boost. It achieves a fuel consumption rate of 7.2 litres per 100 km and a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 7.8 seconds. The Avantgarde trim includes 19-inch wheels and distinct exterior styling compared to the GLC 300. Given its mechanical similarities with the GLC 300, the GLC 200 could potentially be introduced to the Malaysian market at a more affordable price point, estimated around RM320k.

The BYD Atto 3 2025 model has been launched in Australia and India with minor upgrades, including a new full-black interior and ventilated front seats. The exterior features simplified 18-inch alloy wheels. Mechanically, the Atto 3 remains unchanged, with a front motor producing 204 PS (150kW) and 310 Nm of torque. It offers two battery options with WLTP ranges of 345km and 420km. This update is likely a precursor to the model's introduction in Malaysia, where it may face new competition from rivals like the Proton eMas 7.

Lamborghini's first production electric vehicle (EV) could deliver up to 2,000 PS, according to Volkswagen Group CEO Oliver Blume. The vehicle will be based on a platform led by Porsche, featuring a 980-volt architecture for quicker charging and better efficiency. The EV will be assembled at Lamborghini's headquarters in Italy and is expected to attract new customers as the brand's fourth new model.

On March 6, 2025, Sapura Industrial's wholly-owned subsidiary, SIB Ventures, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Zhejiang Zhongze Precision Technology Co Ltd to establish a battery component manufacturing facility in Malaysia. The collaboration aims to conduct feasibility studies and advance the local manufacturing of battery components for commercial and industrial applications. Additionally, Sapura Industrial announced in November 2024 the acquisition of Mili Tech's business as part of a joint venture to enter the EV and hybrid car battery refurbishment and recycling sector.

On March 5, 2025, the third session of the 14th National People’s Congress opened, with Premier Li Qiang delivering the Government Work Report. The report highlighted an 8.9% and 7.7% increase in value added by high-tech manufacturing and equipment manufacturing in 2024, with new energy vehicle production exceeding 13 million units. For 2025, the government will focus on developing intelligent and connected new energy vehicles, supporting large model applications, expanding 5G scale, accelerating industrial internet innovation, and optimizing the layout of computing power resources to build a globally competitive digital industry cluster.
