Electric vehicle manufacturer Lucid plans to challenge Tesla's Model Y with a midsize electric crossover set to launch in 2026. Built on a midsize platform and featuring a new drive unit called Atlas, the upcoming model promises greater cabin space and efficiency, aiming for longer range with less energy consumption and therefore fewer batteries than competitors. Lucid has not disclosed specific performance details but aims for a starting price under $50,000, competitive against the Model Y without factoring in the US federal tax credit and Tesla's own "gas savings" incentives.
