New York State's largest electric bus depot has been commissioned in Buffalo, featuring 36 overhead charging systems for the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority's fleet. The facility is expected to serve as a model for the state's public transit transition to clean energy, supporting goals to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve air quality in urban areas.

Autonomous driving technology firm Nuro has announced a collaboration with automotive manufacturers and mobility service providers through licensing its Nuro Driver™ platform, aiming to accelerate the adoption of autonomous driving technology in the transportation sector. The Nuro Driver™ integrates advanced AI software with custom hardware to support Level 4 autonomous driving capabilities, focusing on enhancing reliability and safety, and propelling the industry towards an autonomous future.

In August 2024, Indonesia's car sales showed a month-on-month increase, with wholesale sales reaching 76,304 units, up 2.8%, and retail sales at 76,808 units, up 1.6%. Hycan, the new energy vehicle brand established by GAC Group and NIO, plans to introduce its all-electric vehicle models to the Malaysian market in the first quarter of 2025. Hycan has appointed a Malaysian company, Concept Fields, as the general agent for the brand in Malaysia and international markets, responsible for import, sales, and after-sales services. The first batch of models is expected to arrive in February or March 2025, including the Z03 SUV, A06/A06 Plus sedans, and V09 MPV. Initially, they will be imported as CBU units, with plans to switch to CKD local assembly around April. Hycan is currently in talks with various companies to explore assembly options and is working on the conversion from LHD to RHD for the incoming models.

Mercedes-Benz and US-based battery startup Factorial Energy have made significant progress in developing a new solid-state battery called Solstice, which is expected to be mass-produced by 2030. The battery has an energy density of up to 450Wh/kg and could increase the range of electric vehicles by 80%, reaching about 1000 kilometers. The Solstice battery uses a sulfide-based solid electrolyte system, which remains stable at temperatures above 90°C, reducing the need for cooling systems, enhancing safety, and lowering costs. Mercedes-Benz has already begun testing the B-samples of the Solstice battery and plans to apply it to its next-generation electric vehicles in the coming years.

Hongqi brand's charging stations have exceeded 200, with a total of over 1900 charging terminals, of which 94% are DC fast-charging terminals. These charging stations are located in 24 cities including Beijing, Changchun, Chengdu, and Shenzhen, providing convenient charging services for users. Hongqi has also launched the second generation of 7kW and 11kW smart AC charging piles, featuring convenient operation, energy management, and intelligent recognition, further enhancing the charging experience for users. In addition, the PB62 power battery of Hongqi's Tiangong pure electric platform has successfully passed the trial production node, with its C prototype package smoothly coming off the line, indicating further development of Hongqi in the field of new energy vehicles.
