A Chery Q electric prototype has been spotted testing on Malaysian roads, positioned as a B-segment EV hatchback to compete with the Proton eMas 5. Measuring 4,195/1,811/1,573mm with a 2,700mm wheelbase, it is larger than the eMas 5. The Thailand-spec features a 122hp rear motor with a 41.278kWh LFP battery delivering 400km NEDC range (340km WLTP), supporting 85kW DC fast charging (30-80% in 16 minutes). Features include an 8.8-inch instrument display, 15.6-inch touchscreen, 50W wireless charging, 360-degree camera and powered tailgate (375L + 70L front). Expected under RM100,000 but priced above the eMas 5.

Spy shots of Hyundai's all-new Elantra (codename CN8c) have surfaced in China, with the overseas version (CN8) having premiered in June. As the eighth-generation model, it receives comprehensive upgrades to exterior, interior and powertrain while closely mirroring the global design. The new model features Hyundai's "Art of Steel" design language with sharp lines for a tech-focused, sporty appearance. Overseas dimensions are 4,765/1,855/1,425mm with a 2,750mm wheelbase, with Chinese spec likely to see further enlargement. The interior references the overseas version's 14.6-inch floating touchscreen and remote LCD instrument cluster running the Android-based Playos Connect infotainment system, with Chinese market localization expected.

BYD has officially launched the Seal 08 in China, with 8 variants priced between 229,900 and 279,900 yuan. Positioned as a mid-to-large SUV, the model offers both 1.5L PHEV and pure electric powertrains. The PHEV variant delivers a combined CLTC range of 1,650 km, while the EV version achieves up to 900 km CLTC range, with the dual-motor AWD completing 0-100 km/h in just 3.9 seconds. Toyota has unveiled the all-new electric C-HR+, a crossover SUV set to launch in Europe later this year. Built on the e-TNGA platform, the C-HR+ is entirely independent of the combustion-engined C-HR. It offers three powertrain options: the base model features a 57.7kWh battery and front-mounted motor with 167 PS, achieving 0-100km/h in 8.6 seconds and a WLTP range of 455km. The mid-range model upgrades to a 77kWh battery with 224 PS, reaching 0-100km/h in 7.4 seconds and offering 600km of range. The top-tier dual-motor AWD variant produces 343 PS, accelerates to 100km/h in 5.2 seconds, and has a range of 525km. The C-HR+ measures 4,520mm x 1,870mm x 1,595mm with a 2,750mm wheelbase. It features a “Hammerhead” front design, a 14-inch touchscreen, high-mounted digital instrument cluster, and 416 litres of cargo space. The vehicle is equipped with Toyota Safety Sense as standard.

The Buick Zhijingshijia Aivia version has appeared in the MIIT filing as a luxury high-spec variant of the mid-to-large MPV, with three seven-seat configurations. Exterior continues the current design with hidden door handles replaced by semi-hidden ones to meet new regulations. The three powertrains are: 1.5L PHEV FWD (engine 110kW, front motor 270kW peak); 1.5L PHEV AWD (engine 110kW, front 270kW + rear 120kW peak); 2.0L PHEV AWD (engine 155kW, front 270kW + rear 120kW peak). All use CATL SAIC Times LFP batteries. The 2.0L PHEV AWD comes standard with lidar, fender cameras and side radar, featuring Xiaoyao Zhixing advanced ADAS. The Geely Galaxy TT pre-orders start from 145,900 yuan ahead of its official launch on September 10, with a limited 999-unit Galaxy TT Ultra at 209,800 yuan.
