Chery Q Spied Testing in Malaysia, Targeting Proton eMas 5
A Chery Q electric prototype has been spotted testing on Malaysian roads, positioned as a B-segment EV hatchback to compete with the Proton eMas 5. Measuring 4,195/1,811/1,573mm with a 2,700mm wheelbase, it is larger than the eMas 5. The Thailand-spec features a 122hp rear motor with a 41.278kWh LFP battery delivering 400km NEDC range (340km WLTP), supporting 85kW DC fast charging (30-80% in 16 minutes). Features include an 8.8-inch instrument display, 15.6-inch touchscreen, 50W wireless charging, 360-degree camera and powered tailgate (375L + 70L front). Expected under RM100,000 but priced above the eMas 5.
Changan UNI-V Hybrid Launched from 109,900 Yuan with 4.28L/100km
Changan officially launched the UNI-V hybrid on September 12 with two models at official prices of 114,900-119,900 yuan and limited-time prices of 109,900-113,900 yuan. The exterior continues the fuel version design with a closed front grille, three-section air intakes, dual four-exhaust outlets, connected taillights and a standard electric rear spoiler. Dimensions are 4,740/1,838/1,435mm with a 2,750mm wheelbase. Interior features 256-color ambient lighting, sport seats with 3-mode driver ventilation/heating, SUPER RACE 3.0 track mode, Tencent TTI Sound AI audio, 18 speakers, Dolby Atmos and ENC active noise cancellation. Boot space is 465L, expandable to 1,090L. The 1.5L hybrid powertrain (engine 110kW/220Nm, motor 180kW) delivers 0-100km/h in 6.98 seconds with 4.28L/100km WLTC combined fuel consumption.
Toyota Unveils the All-New Electric C-HR+ with Three Powertrain Options
Toyota has unveiled the all-new electric C-HR+, a crossover SUV set to launch in Europe later this year. Built on the e-TNGA platform, the C-HR+ is entirely independent of the combustion-engined C-HR. It offers three powertrain options: the base model features a 57.7kWh battery and front-mounted motor with 167 PS, achieving 0-100km/h in 8.6 seconds and a WLTP range of 455km. The mid-range model upgrades to a 77kWh battery with 224 PS, reaching 0-100km/h in 7.4 seconds and offering 600km of range. The top-tier dual-motor AWD variant produces 343 PS, accelerates to 100km/h in 5.2 seconds, and has a range of 525km. The C-HR+ measures 4,520mm x 1,870mm x 1,595mm with a 2,750mm wheelbase. It features a “Hammerhead” front design, a 14-inch touchscreen, high-mounted digital instrument cluster, and 416 litres of cargo space. The vehicle is equipped with Toyota Safety Sense as standard.

Spy shots of the Audi RS Q5 Sportback have surfaced for the first time. The model features a unique large-mouth grille with horizontal trim and mesh texture, brake cooling vents on the front bumper and widened wheel arches. The rear bumper gets a redesign with dual exhaust outlets. Power comes from the RS 5's 2.9L twin-turbo V6 plug-in hybrid system with a 25.9kWh battery, achieving a top speed of 250km/h. Interior is expected to follow the Q5 Sportback layout with RS-specific badges, sport steering wheel and sports seats.

China's 15th Five-Year Plan Targets 70% NEV Penetration by 2030 for Passenger Cars
China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and eight other departments have released the 15th Five-Year Plan for Intelligent and Connected NEV Industry, targeting NEV passenger cars at 70% and commercial vehicles at 40% of total sales by 2030, establishing China as a global automotive power. The plan outlines five key tasks: enhancing technological innovation, optimizing industrial system upgrades, promoting cross-border integration, building efficient governance frameworks and expanding international cooperation, supported by four major projects and three key initiatives. NPC Development and Reform Commission Deputy Director Shao Ji stated that industrial technology routes continue evolving with potential disruptive technologies ahead, pledging cross-departmental coordination, standards guidance, organizational innovation and deeper international cooperation to upgrade the industry.

Mercedes-Benz Malaysia previewed the pure electric GLC300 4Matic to media in Singapore, with estimated pricing at RM389,000 for Avantgarde and RM399,000 for AMG Line Plus, competing against the BMW iX3 (RM399,800). The dual-motor AWD produces 421PS/800Nm, completing 0-100km/h in 4.7 seconds with a 210km/h top speed. It packs an 85kWh NMC battery offering up to 616km WLTP range and supports 330kW DC fast charging (10-80% in 22 minutes). Built on 800V architecture with a two-speed rear axle gearbox for high-speed efficiency. Imported as CBU with local assembly later in Pahang. Interior features MBUX Hyperscreen (39.1-inch display) and dual Qi wireless chargers, with 11 airbags, Digital Light LED headlights, 21-inch wheels and illuminated star logos standard. First 100 buyers get access to the Mercedes-AMG F1 Party in KL. Safety includes MB.Drive Standard suite, while Level 2 semi-autonomous driving requires a paid subscription.
