The long-wheelbase Mercedes-Benz GLE SUV will make its official debut at the Chengdu Auto Show. The exterior mirrors the overseas new GLE model, featuring a large front grille with the three-pointed star emblem, new starlight LED headlights with star badge elements for strong recognition. Dimensions measure 5051/2018/1784mm with a 3,115mm wheelbase. The D-pillar retains the triangular window design with color-matched body surrounds. The rear taillights incorporate star badge elements with a blackened center strip creating a connected lighting effect. Powertrain options include the GLE 350 L with M254 2.0T engine producing 190kW, and the GLE 450 L with M256 3.0T engine producing 280kW, with 20/21-inch wheel options available.

Seven-decade-old Beijing Automobile Works (BAW) has officially entered Indonesia, showcasing the D5 entry-level city EV at GIIAS 2026. Measuring 3,800 × 1,720 × 1,590 mm with a 2,500 mm wheelbase, the D5 is 190 mm shorter than the Atto 1. It has an 82 PS/125 Nm front electric motor (0-50 km/h in 4.7 seconds, 120 km/h top speed), 31.94 kWh LFP battery (330 km CLTC/about 270 km WLTP, 36-minute fast charging claimed), 315-litre boot, and standard features including rear parking sensors, auto hold, stability control, LED headlamps and wireless charging. Two variants: Standard with 6.2-inch instrument panel, 10.1-inch screen, 4 speakers and 4 airbags; top variant adds powered leather seats, 8.88-inch instrument panel, 12.8-inch screen, 360 camera and 6 airbags. No ADAS on either variant.

The Yijing brand has unveiled the interior of its all-new 6-seat large SUV, the X9, as the first model to feature HarmonySpace 6. It debuts a 17.2-inch dual 3.4K-resolution butterfly-wing dual-screen setup, offering five interior color themes: Morning White, Shaohua Apricot, Cixia Orange, Warm Hui Brown, and Muyun Purple. The cabin features Nappa diamond-pattern leather upholstery throughout high-contact areas, star ambient lighting, crystal knobs, four electric doors, and hidden welcome pedals. Smart features include the HUAWEI XSCENE in-car laser projection system, HUAWEI SOUND audio, and microphone-free karaoke. Pre-sales begin August 18, with official launch and delivery in Q3.

BAW showcased the M8 MPV at GIIAS 2026, marking its official entry into the Indonesian market through local subsidiary PT BAW Automobile Trading Indonesia with plans for CKD assembly. Launched in China last December, the M8 features a boxy MPV design with a large vertical grille and LED daytime running lights, measuring 5,317 × 1,870 × 1,969 mm with a 3,200 mm wheelbase. The interior uses a 2+2+3 layout with powered second-row captain chairs. The displayed EV version features a front-motor front-wheel drive layout (contrasting with RWD in China/Hong Kong), rated at 231 PS (170 kW) and 310 Nm, with an 81 kWh battery delivering 505 km CLTC range. A REEV variant is also available with the same motor, a smaller 46 kWh battery offering 200 km electric-only range, and a 1.5L turbocharged range extender (116 PS/190 Nm) enabling a combined range of up to 1,050 km.

BAW (Beijing Automotive Works) showcased five models at GIIAS 2026, with the X03 making its public debut. Closely sized to the Denza B8 at 5,095 × 2,038 × 1,945 mm with a 2,950 mm wheelbase, it uses a body-on-frame construction with part-time 4WD and a 2.3L turbodiesel engine producing 185 PS and 480 Nm, topping out at 170 km/h. It features double wishbone front and multi-link rear suspension, a centre-locking differential, 265/70 R18 all-terrain tyres, and approach/departure angles of 33 and 30 degrees. The five-seat interior includes a full-sized spare tyre mounted on the barn-door tailgate. Remarkably, a right-hand drive version already exists despite the model only surfacing days ago in China's MIIT filings. BAW plans CKD production in West Java, Indonesia.

Great Wall WEY has released official images of the V8X Sport Edition, which opened bookings on July 29 and will officially launch on August 14. Compared to the Luxury Family variant, the Sport Edition is 85mm shorter at 5,040 mm with a 2,968 mm wheelbase (82mm shorter), gaining the Yaohei Sport Appearance Package with exclusive exterior and interior accessories, finished in exclusive Dawn Grey with 21-inch black alloy wheels and red brake callipers. The interior adopts a grey and red color scheme with premium microfiber materials, red seatbelts and contrast stitching. Powering it is the Super Hi4 2.0T plug-in hybrid system delivering 500 kW and 930 Nm, achieving 0-100 km/h in 4.5 seconds with a 66.6 kWh battery providing 402 km CLTC pure EV range and 1,659 km combined range, supporting 800V/6C fast charging that adds 170 km in just 5 minutes. The chassis stabilizer bar is 8% thicker with sport-specific tuning for improved lateral support while maintaining ride comfort.
