BYD Malaysia and Sime Motors officially opened the BYD Mansion Macalister showroom in Penang's George Town, converting a restored century-old heritage building into an integrated facility featuring five service bays, one alignment bay, one 60 kW DC charger and seven AC units. BYD VP Liu Xueliang and Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow attended the launch. With over 43 showrooms and 25 aftersales centres nationwide, BYD is deepening its local presence and exploring potential CKD assembly partnership with Sime Motors' Inokom to advance Malaysia's electrification strategy.

The Xiaomi YU7 GT will officially launch on May 21 at 19:00, positioned as a "sports car-level SUV suitable for long-distance travel" and the flagship of the YU7 family. Featuring a low, wide stance, the dual-motor AWD system delivers over 1000hp. Exterior updates include a redesigned front bumper with a large splitter and multiple vents for enhanced cooling and aerodynamics. Measuring 5015/2007/1597mm with a 3000mm wheelbase, it is 10mm longer, 21mm wider, and 23mm lower than the standard YU7 for a more aggressive athletic profile.

The all-electric Mercedes-Benz GLC will open pre-sales in early June ahead of a July launch. Built on the new MB.EA platform, it measures 4949/1970/1710mm with an extended 3027mm wheelbase and a 128L frunk. Powered by an 85.5kWh battery, it delivers CLTC ranges of 680km and 703km. Denza, BYD's luxury sub-brand, will launch the B8 in Malaysia on May 21 as its second local model. The body-on-frame large three-row off-road SUV, derived from the Fangchengbao Bao 8, measures 5,195/1,994/1,905 mm with a 2,920 mm wheelbase. Powered by the BYD DMO PHEV system delivering 578 PS and 760 Nm via dual motors, it achieves 0-100 km/h in 4.8 seconds. The 36.8 kWh Blade Battery provides approximately 100 km WLTP electric range and 905 km combined range. Features include DiSus-P hydraulic suspension with 140 mm height adjustment, 800 mm wading depth, 17.3-inch central display and 18-speaker Devialet audio, with expected pricing exceeding RM300,000.

Dongfeng's eπ brand will debut the M8 full-size SUV on May 23, targeting Q3 market launch. The 6-seater measures 5020/1975/1733mm with a 3025mm wheelbase, featuring a closed grille, full-width light bar, semi-flush door handles, and turbine-style wheels. It integrates Huawei's Qiankun intelligent automotive solution spanning ADAS, cockpit, vehicle control, cloud services, and connectivity, equipped with Qiankun ADS 5 Pro. Powertrain options include a BEV variant with 800V architecture and 4C battery delivering 600km CLTC range, and an EREV variant offering 300km electric range.

The Mercedes-AMG GLC43 4Matic Coupé Nightfall Edition has launched in Malaysia as a locally assembled (CKD) model priced at RM518,888—RM10,000 above the standard variant. Enhancements include the AMG Night Package II with dark chrome grille slats, tristar emblem, and rear badging, plus 21-inch AMG Y-spoke forged wheels. The cabin features the AMG Real Performance Sound system controlled via the 11.9-inch MBUX touchscreen. Power comes from a 2.0L turbocharged inline-four producing 421PS and 500Nm, augmented by a 48V mild hybrid system, 4Matic AWD, and a 9-speed AMG Speedshift MCT transmission, achieving 0-100km/h in 4.5 seconds and a 250km/h top speed.
