Chery, China's top car exporter, announced plans to establish an R&D center in Paris to develop a Europe-specific small city car tailored to local consumer preferences. The move marks Chery's strategic pivot from its SUV-focused European entry—via Omoda and Jaecoo brands—into the continent's iconic compact segment. "We want to build a French car for the French," stated Hanbang Yu, Chery France director, emphasizing the company's commitment to understanding regional design tastes. The initiative targets France's significant small car market, positioning Chery to compete against established European urban runabouts like the Fiat Cinquecento and Renault Twingo on their home terrain.

The 2026 Haval H9 has launched with three gasoline variants priced from RMB 199,900 to RMB 229,900, and limited-time offers from RMB 174,900. Two diesel variants are also available from RMB 233,900. The facelift upgrades smart connectivity, comfort, and off-road performance. Standard features include a full blackout exterior package, a 20 mm raised ride height, 226 mm ground clearance, 32-degree approach angle, and 800 mm wading depth. Headlight illumination has been improved by over 50% at 40 metres.

GAC AION has officially launched the N60 compact SUV, built on the AEP3.0 dedicated EV architecture. The model is offered in three variants priced from RMB 109,800 to RMB 129,800, with limited-time discounts available. Standard equipment includes LiDAR and 4D millimetre-wave radar across all trims, with range options of 410 km, 510 km, and 610 km. Launch incentives comprise financial subsidies, trade-in allowances, lifetime battery warranty for the first owner, and a four-year/150,000 km vehicle warranty.

SAIC Volkswagen will launch the Passat ePro and Tiguan L ePro plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) in late May. Both models feature an EA211 1.5T turbocharged engine paired with a single electric motor, mated to a TQ251 transmission and a 22kWh battery pack. Exteriors adopt new energy vehicle design language, including full-width LED light bars and illuminated logos. The Passat ePro measures 5017/1850/1489mm with a 2871mm wheelbase, while the Tiguan L ePro measures 4744/1842/1684mm with a 2791mm wheelbase in a 5-seat configuration.

Chery has officially released the interior images of its new ARRIZO S concept vehicle. Positioned as a mid-size sedan, the model is powered by a 2.0T turbocharged engine, with its exterior previously unveiled at the Beijing Auto Show. The interior features a wrap-around cockpit design accentuated by ambient lighting strips, chrome trims, and wood-grain elements. It is equipped with a two-spoke multifunction steering wheel, full digital instrument cluster, floating central touchscreen, and mechanical rotary controls, delivering a refined overall quality.

At Omoda and Jaecoo's one-million-units production celebration, Chery International president Zhang Guibing revealed the twin brands' future product plans. Jaecoo will pivot further towards off-roaders to differentiate from Omoda and other Chery group marques. Upcoming models include the entry-level J3 small SUV (around 4,200 mm in length), the flagship J9 (offered in EV and PHEV variants), and two codenamed vehicles T1TP and KP31. The T1TP is revealed to be the Chery Tiggo V, a transformable unibody pick-up/SUV unveiled at Auto China, tipped to offer petrol and plug-in hybrid powertrains featuring O&J's new Super Hybrid System – Plug-in hybrid (SHS-P) branding.
