The refreshed Hongqi HQ9 PHEV appears on China’s 25th tax-exempt list with a 39.5kWh pack delivering 173km or 168km electric range. A 120kW 2.0T petrol engine forms the plug-in hybrid, while design keeps the vertical-bar grille and full-width taillights on its 5222×2005×1935mm luxury MPV body.
Nissan to Export Electric Vehicles from China to Expand Overseas Markets
Nissan plans to export electric vehicles (EVs) from its Chinese factories to Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and other regions starting in 2026. The N7 mid-size sedan, the first EV developed in China, will be among the first to be exported. Nissan has invested in China's IAT Automobile Technology to develop software for export markets. Additionally, Nissan has established a joint venture with Dongfeng Motor Group to handle vehicle exports. Nissan aims to leverage the cost-effectiveness of Chinese EVs to enhance its competitiveness in overseas markets.
BYD SHARK Pickup Arrives in Chile with DMO Technology to Redefine Pickup Standards
BYD has officially launched the SHARK pickup in the Chilean market. The SHARK is the first pickup to feature DMO (Dual Mode Off-road) technology, combining the performance and efficiency of traditional combustion vehicles with electric vehicles. Equipped with a 1.5T turbocharged engine and dual electric motors, the SHARK offers over 430 horsepower and 650 Nm of torque, with a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of just 5.7 seconds. It features BYD's Blade Battery integrated via CTC (Cell-to-Chassis) technology, capable of charging from 30% to 80% in just 15 minutes. The vehicle includes a 12.8-inch rotatable touchscreen, a 10.8-inch dashboard, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and is available in black, blue, and white. The SHARK also boasts a payload capacity of 850 kg and a towing capacity of 2,500 kg, along with six airbags and the DiPilot driving assistance system.

Malaysia’s New EV Road-Tax Structure Takes Effect: 9.999 kW Step Progression Cuts Most Bills
From Jan 1, 2026, Malaysian EVs lose their tax holiday and face a new kW-based road-tax schedule: RM20 flat up to 50 kW, then RM10-350 per extra 9.999 kW block, capped at RM20k. A 160 kW BYD Seal 6 drops from RM1,294 to RM180; a 210 kW BMW i4 pays RM280, while a 675 kW Lotus Eletre is charged RM4,890 and the 2,220 kW Yangwang U9 hits the RM20k ceiling.
