BAIC Malaysia Delay Over: X55 & BJ40 Plus Pilot Built, Jan 2026 CKD Roll-out
After a 12-month silence, BAIC’s Malaysia entry is back on track: pilot production of the X55 and BJ40 Plus was completed at EP Manufacturing’s Melaka plant in November, with full CKD assembly starting January 2026 under a 10-year contract. Open for booking since May 2024, the C-segment X55 (188 PS/305 Nm 1.5T+7DCT) is priced around RM129k, while the Wrangler-style BJ40 Plus body-on-frame 4×4 (221 hp/380 Nm 2.0T+8AT, removable roof/doors) lists near RM188k.

Fresh spy shots reveal the facelifted Range Rover Sport SV will keep split headlamps and enlarged intakes up front, while 23-inch alloys with yellow calipers fill the arches. The rear adopts a central, square-quad exhaust layout for added aggression. Overall length and 3 m wheelbase are likely unchanged. Official specs remain unconfirmed; the current SV’s 4.4 T V8 mild-hybrid delivers 635 PS/750 N·m for 0-100 km/h in 3.8 s, and a high-output PHEV is expected when the updated model debuts in 2027.
