Honda’s Super-One Prototype, unveiled at JMS 2025, is a kei-based A-segment EV hot hatch. Wide blistered fenders, air ducts and a Boost mode increase power while simulating 7-speed shifts and engine sound via Active Sound Control. The cabin features twin horizontal displays, triple gauges and bespoke sports seats with asymmetric blue trim. Series production starts in Japan in 2026, followed by the UK (as Super-N) and Asia-Oceania markets.

Tesla Malaysia Energises Pavilion Damansara Heights with 4-Cab V4 Superchargers
Tesla Malaysia has commissioned a new V4 Supercharger site at Pavilion Damansara Heights, adding four 250 kW DC bays to complement the mall’s existing six Destination Chargers. The network now totals 16 Supercharging stations (72 units) and 16 Destination Charging stations (73 units) nationwide. Further expansions are slated for Nexus Bangsar South, Queensbay Mall Penang and The Mall, Mid Valley Southkey by year-end. The company reiterated its 2026 commitment to open at least 30% of DC fast chargers to non-Tesla EVs under the BEV Global Leaders programme.

Charge+, Southeast Asia’s largest EV-CPO, has launched KL’s fastest 350 kW hyper-charging hub at KL Eco City Mall together with Xpeng and SP Setia. Open to all brands but offering Xpeng owners exclusive discounts, the five-bay site anchors the partners’ 20-location regional network and Charge+’s 5,000 km Singapore–Hanoi EV corridor.
US New Car Sales Reach 15.9 Million in 2024, a Five-Year High
In 2024, new car sales in the US reached 15.9 million units, up 2.2% year-on-year, marking a five-year high. This growth was driven by replenished inventories, higher incentives, and surging demand for hybrid vehicles. General Motors led with 2.7 million units sold, while Toyota saw a 3.7% increase, boosted by models like the Camry and RAV4, which are offered only as hybrids in the US. Ford sold nearly twice as many hybrids as EVs in 2024. However, sales for Stellantis and Tesla declined compared to 2023.

Beijing Hyundai EO Yi-ou Electric SUV Launched from RMB 119,800, Up to 722 km CLTC Range
Beijing Hyundai’s first ground-up EV, the compact EO Yi-ou, hit the market on 29 Oct with three trims priced RMB 119,800-149,800. Pixel-style lighting and active grille distinguish the 4615mm-long, 2750mm-wheelbase body. All versions get a 27-inch integrated display, cyber-eye HUD, suede/leather trim and dual 15W wireless chargers. Two power levels—160kW FWD and 233kW AWD—pair with 64.2/88.1kWh LFP batteries for 518-722km CLTC range and four-stage regen plus one-pedal mode.

Lexus Drops Three LS Concepts at JMS: Six-Wheel MPV, Coupe SUV & Micro Pod Reset Flagship DNA
At Tokyo’s JMS Lexus unveiled a trio of LS concepts to recast its flagship as “Luxury Space”. The six-wheel MPV Concept uses four smaller rear wheels to free floor area for a three-row, seven-seat lounge with Ottoman recliners. The Coupe Concept targets drivers and passengers alike with a low-slung spindle body, suicide doors, transparent aero covers and a slide-down boot. The Micro Concept is a single-seat autonomous pod whose windscreen doubles as a display. No timeline given, but with the sedan discontinued in Europe and the US, production versions are expected soon.

BYD Racco Kei EV Debuts in Japan, Sales Start Summer 2026
At the Japan Mobility Show BYD unveiled the Racco, its first kei-segment EV for Japan. The 3,395 mm-long boxy four-seater features C-shaped DRLs, sliding doors and a “floating roof”. A front-mounted motor drives the wheels, powered by LFP batteries; the long-range pack is 20 kWh good for roughly 180 km WLTC and 100 kW DC fast-charge. Sales begin summer 2026 from about ¥2.6 million, squaring up against the Honda N-One e:, Mitsubishi eK X EV and Nissan Sakura.
