Subaru Rex Hybrid Now Available in Japan, Priced from 2,216,500 Yen

The Subaru Rex is now available as a hybrid in Japan, with two variants: G Hybrid and Z Hybrid, priced between 2,216,500 yen (about RM66k) and 2,608,100 yen (about RM77k). The Rex is based on the Daihatsu Rocky and uses Daihatsu’s e-Smart Hybrid system. It features a 1.2-liter Atkinson-cycle three-cylinder petrol engine (82 PS, 105 Nm) and a 4.3-Ah lithium-ion battery driving an electric motor (106 PS, 170 Nm). The claimed fuel consumption is as low as 28 km/l (3.6 l/100 km). The hybrid version has a unique front grille design, model-specific emblems, a hybrid-specific instrument cluster, a pedestrian warning sound system, and a 1.5-kW AC power outlet.

Built on MLA-Flex, the Range Rover Electric will sit alongside ICE and PHEV models. A 118 kWh NMC pack delivers 483 km WLTP range; twin motors produce 542 hp/850 Nm, rivalling the P530 V8.
