Fiat 500 Hybrid Set for Production as Electric Version Struggles with Sales
In response to poor sales of the Fiat 500e since its 2020 launch, Fiat has reengineered the electric model to introduce a petrol-powered version called the 500 Hybrid. Pre-production has begun ahead of full-scale production in November 2025. The 500 Hybrid looks nearly identical to the 500e, with a larger front opening and a fuel filler replacing the charging port. Inside, it retains the electric version’s design, including a two-spoke steering wheel, a 10.25-inch floating infotainment screen, and a Qi wireless charger. The most notable change is the addition of a manual gearlever, indicating the car will use a 1.0-litre three-cylinder engine and a 12-volt belt-driven starter-generator, producing 70 PS and 92 Nm of torque. Despite the “Hybrid” label, electric assistance is expected to be minimal.
