The cancellation of the US policy promoting electric vehicle production and sales by President Trump could impact Indonesia. GAIKINDO in Indonesia believes that the growth of internal combustion engine vehicles must continue, noting that the low resale value of electric vehicles is a reason for public hesitation. The Indonesian government is offering hybrid vehicle incentives to boost the sale of environmentally friendly vehicles.

GAC and Huawei Automotive BU jointly launch “Qijing,” a premium NEV marque positioned above 300k RMB. The first model—offering both BEV and EREV powertrains in SUV and sedan body styles—is slated for 2026. On Sept 19, smart unveiled the #5 EHD, its first PHEV. The 1.5-litre turbo plug-in hybrid delivers 120 kW, 252 km electric range and 4.4 L/100 km CLTC feed-in consumption, totaling 1,615 km combined range. Design mirrors the EV sibling; production and deliveries start late October.
