Proton’s Tanjung Malim EV Plant Opens Ahead of Schedule with eMas 7 Roll-Out
Proton today inaugurated its RM82 million EV assembly plant in Tanjung Malim, Perak, seven months after ground-breaking and ahead of the original 2025 target. The 20 000-unit first-phase facility, scalable to 45 000, has already started production of the best-selling Proton eMas 7, with the smaller eMas 5 to follow. Geely’s technical input covers equipment selection, commissioning and overseas training, while the modular line integrates battery assembly, high-voltage testing and digital MES/WMS. The plant will create 200 jobs and is linked to a planned rail logistics hub for domestic and export markets.
