Hyundai Motor Malaysia Unveils Future Development Blueprint, Plans to Assemble 7 Models Locally

Hyundai Motor Malaysia (HMY) has unveiled its future development blueprint at a media event. The Hyundai group has taken over the brand's operations from Hyundai Sime Motors under the Sime Group and established a subsidiary to directly manage local business. HMY plans to assemble seven models locally over the next five years, including the facelifted Tucson, the all - new Santa Fe, and the large MPV Staria. The locally - assembled models will focus on traditional internal combustion engines and hybrid power systems, with pure electric vehicles not planned for local assembly. Production is expected to start in the third quarter of this year in collaboration with Inokom under the Sime Group. Local assembly will help reduce prices and enhance competitiveness, initially targeting the local market before expanding exports to other ASEAN countries. HMY aims to establish 25 sales and service outlets in Malaysia by 2030, positioning the country as a key production and export hub in the ASEAN region.
