New Land Rover Defender Unveiled: Detail Tweaks and Interior Upgrades
The new Land Rover Defender has been unveiled with minor exterior tweaks and interior upgrades. The vehicle features changes in rectangular headlights, grille design, and tail light shades, while maintaining the same body dimensions. The interior now includes a 13.1-inch infotainment screen, driver monitoring system, and adaptive off-road cruise control. Powertrains are expected to remain unchanged. The overseas starting price is approximately RMB 554,400.
New Lynk & Co 01 to Launch in June with Upgraded Interior and Infotainment
Lynk & Co's Deputy General Manager Mu Jun revealed that the new Lynk & Co 01 will be launched in June. The new model will feature optimized exterior details and new matte paint options. Inside, the new Lynk & Co 01 will adopt a new floating center console screen, optimize the infotainment interface and console design, and enhance technology and convenience. The power system update is not yet clear. The current model is equipped with a 2.0T turbocharged engine with a maximum power of 187 kW and a maximum torque of 350 Nm.
New Jeep Cherokee Official Images Released, Embracing a Rugged Style
The new Jeep Cherokee has released its official images and is set to debut in the fall. The exterior features a completely new design, paying homage to the classic Cherokee. It includes a narrow and elongated seven-slot grille and U-shaped LED daytime running lights, with a rugged style. The rear design is yet to be revealed but is expected to feature square taillights and a long-wheelbase, short overhang design. The interior includes a flat-bottom steering wheel, embedded infotainment screen, and physical control buttons. The vehicle will be powered by a 1.6T turbocharged hybrid engine.

2025 China Automotive Power Battery Industry Innovation Alliance Annual Conference Opens in Nanjing
On May 29, 2025, the annual conference of the China Automotive Power Battery Industry Innovation Alliance opened in Nanjing, themed on "Intelligence, Low-Carbon, and Globalization." Nearly a thousand industry experts attended. Luo Junjie, Vice President of the China Machinery Industry Federation, reviewed the innovative achievements of the power battery industry and proposed suggestions for strengthening technological leadership, accelerating low-carbon layout, and expanding open cooperation. Zhu Yanfeng, former Party Secretary and Chairman of Dongfeng Motor Group, emphasized the importance of combining various technical routes and proposed improving the recycling system for power batteries. Academician Sun Xueliang summarized the challenges facing the power battery industry, including resource issues, technical bottlenecks, and international policy pressures, and suggested accelerating breakthroughs in all-solid-state batteries and strengthening the development of sodium-ion batteries.

VinFast Unveils Right-Hand Drive VF6 at Indonesia International Motor Show
VinFast unveiled the right-hand drive (RHD) version of the VF6 at the 2025 Indonesia International Motor Show. The B-segment SUV is available in two variants: the Eco (priced at 396,995,000 rupiah, RM103k) with a 177 PS front electric motor and 250 Nm of torque, and the Plus (451.6 million rupiah, RM117k) with a 204 PS motor and 310 Nm of torque. Both variants are powered by a 59.6-kWh LFP battery, offering a WLTP range of up to 399 km for the Eco and 381 km for the Plus, with fast charging from 10% to 70% in 25 minutes. Promotions include free charging, a gift package worth RM3.5k, cashback up to RM3.9k, and one-year comprehensive insurance. The Plus variant features advanced ADAS systems. VinFast also offers a vehicle exchange and buy-back policy, providing up to 90% of the vehicle's value after six months and 70% after three years to address residual value concerns.

Geely's Golden Brick Battery Passes Extreme Crush Test Demonstrating Superior Safety
Geely recently conducted an extreme crush test on its Golden Brick battery, which is specified for the Geely Galaxy E5 (sister model to Proton eMas 7). The battery survived being run over by a 36-tonne ZTZ-59D main battle tank, maintaining structural integrity without bulging, leakage, fire, or explosion. The battery meets China's new safety standard GB38031-2025, with IP68 and IPX9K ratings and cell-to-body integration technology. Safety features include liquid-electric separation and thermal insulation. Geely plans to open its battery safety patents to the industry. Additionally, an extended-range version of the Galaxy E5 with a 68.39 kWh battery pack is in the pipeline.
