The refreshed Hongqi HQ9 PHEV appears on China’s 25th tax-exempt list with a 39.5kWh pack delivering 173km or 168km electric range. A 120kW 2.0T petrol engine forms the plug-in hybrid, while design keeps the vertical-bar grille and full-width taillights on its 5222×2005×1935mm luxury MPV body.

Nissan plans to export electric vehicles (EVs) from its Chinese factories to Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and other regions starting in 2026. The N7 mid-size sedan, the first EV developed in China, will be among the first to be exported. Nissan has invested in China's IAT Automobile Technology to develop software for export markets. Additionally, Nissan has established a joint venture with Dongfeng Motor Group to handle vehicle exports. Nissan aims to leverage the cost-effectiveness of Chinese EVs to enhance its competitiveness in overseas markets.

BYD has officially launched the SHARK pickup in the Chilean market. The SHARK is the first pickup to feature DMO (Dual Mode Off-road) technology, combining the performance and efficiency of traditional combustion vehicles with electric vehicles. Equipped with a 1.5T turbocharged engine and dual electric motors, the SHARK offers over 430 horsepower and 650 Nm of torque, with a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of just 5.7 seconds. It features BYD's Blade Battery integrated via CTC (Cell-to-Chassis) technology, capable of charging from 30% to 80% in just 15 minutes. The vehicle includes a 12.8-inch rotatable touchscreen, a 10.8-inch dashboard, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and is available in black, blue, and white. The SHARK also boasts a payload capacity of 850 kg and a towing capacity of 2,500 kg, along with six airbags and the DiPilot driving assistance system.

On Jan 5 JAC Group CEO Xiang Xingchu visited Huawei founder Ren Zhengfei in Shenzhen to advance cooperation on vehicle intelligence and digital transformation. Following their April 2025 strategic pact, the duo’s ultra-luxury brand Zunjie has delivered over 10,000 flagship S800 sedans in seven months, setting a Chinese record for premium new-energy passenger cars and paving the way for deeper joint R&D in platforms, ADS and HarmonyOS cockpit.

Volvo Malaysia will launch the ES90 this month; locally-assembled (CKD) to keep EV tax break, replacing the discontinued petrol S90. Built on SPA2 with 800V architecture, the 5m-long sedan offers 0.25Cd drag and three power levels: RWD 333PS/650km, Twin Motor AWD 449PS/700km and Performance 680PS/0-100km/h 4s. All charge 10-80% in 20min on 350kW DC.

Spy shots of the Denza D9L reveal a 5.4 m-long stretched MPV, adding 150 mm over the standard D9. The camouflaged prototype keeps the π-Motion design theme, adopts new 7-shaped lamps and a roof-mounted LiDAR for the “Tianshen-B” ADS. Both PHEV and BEV powertrains are planned: the former pairs a 2.0T engine with triple motors, while the latter delivers >640 kW and sub-4-second 0-100 km/h acceleration. Cloud-A active suspension and dual electric sliding doors remain, positioning the D9L above current D9 variants in the premium MPV segment.
