The long-wheelbase Mercedes-Benz GLE SUV will make its official debut at the Chengdu Auto Show. The exterior mirrors the overseas new GLE model, featuring a large front grille with the three-pointed star emblem, new starlight LED headlights with star badge elements for strong recognition. Dimensions measure 5051/2018/1784mm with a 3,115mm wheelbase. The D-pillar retains the triangular window design with color-matched body surrounds. The rear taillights incorporate star badge elements with a blackened center strip creating a connected lighting effect. Powertrain options include the GLE 350 L with M254 2.0T engine producing 190kW, and the GLE 450 L with M256 3.0T engine producing 280kW, with 20/21-inch wheel options available.

The Yijing brand has unveiled the interior of its all-new 6-seat large SUV, the X9, as the first model to feature HarmonySpace 6. It debuts a 17.2-inch dual 3.4K-resolution butterfly-wing dual-screen setup, offering five interior color themes: Morning White, Shaohua Apricot, Cixia Orange, Warm Hui Brown, and Muyun Purple. The cabin features Nappa diamond-pattern leather upholstery throughout high-contact areas, star ambient lighting, crystal knobs, four electric doors, and hidden welcome pedals. Smart features include the HUAWEI XSCENE in-car laser projection system, HUAWEI SOUND audio, and microphone-free karaoke. Pre-sales begin August 18, with official launch and delivery in Q3.

Beijing Automobile Works (BAW) made its GIIAS debut in Jakarta, Indonesia, showcasing the T01 off-roader. The T01 represents the latest iteration of BAW's iconic 212 series, with design roots dating back to 1965. Measuring 4705/1895/1936mm with a 2860mm wheelbase, it offers 235mm ground clearance and 850mm wading depth. Two powertrain options are available: petrol (252 PS/410 Nm) and diesel (170 PS/415 Nm), both 2.0-litre turbocharged engines paired with an 8-speed automatic and BorgWarner part-time 4WD (2H/4H/4L) with ten drive modes. Standard features include 360-degree camera, center and rear locking differentials, sunroof and 17-inch alloys on 265/70 highway-terrain tyres. BAW plans to build a plant in West Java for local CKD assembly and export to other RHD ASEAN markets.

Audi has released official images of the A2 e-tron, a fully electric entry-level five-door hatchback with crossover design elements, set for global debut this fall. Built on Volkswagen's MEB+ platform with a 400V architecture, the 61 kWh battery (58 kWh usable) uses LFP chemistry integrated into the chassis, supporting 105 kW DC fast charging (10-80% in 26 minutes), 11 kW AC charging, and 3.6/2.3 kW V2L. Official consumption is 12.8 kWh/100 km with up to 450 km range. Two motor options: APP350 (231 PS/350 Nm) and APP550 (326 PS/545 Nm). Drag coefficient is just 0.24 cd, reducing energy consumption by 0.9 kWh/100 km. Official launch expected between September and November 2026.

The latest MIIT filing reveals that the UNYX 07 will receive a LiDAR-equipped version. The new variant maintains the current model's design, with body height increased by 4mm to 1,570 mm; dimensions are 4,853 × 1,852 × 1,570 mm with a 2,826 mm wheelbase, riding on 235/45 R20 tyres. Power continues from a single motor rated at 170 kW paired with an LFP battery. For reference, the current UNYX 07 uses a pure vision intelligent driving solution priced at 129,900-139,900 yuan. The LiDAR version will upgrade to a LiDAR + Horizon Robotics Journey 6H chip combination, enabling City NOA navigation assist, with delivery expected by end of 2026.

BAW showcased the M8 MPV at GIIAS 2026, marking its official entry into the Indonesian market through local subsidiary PT BAW Automobile Trading Indonesia with plans for CKD assembly. Launched in China last December, the M8 features a boxy MPV design with a large vertical grille and LED daytime running lights, measuring 5,317 × 1,870 × 1,969 mm with a 3,200 mm wheelbase. The interior uses a 2+2+3 layout with powered second-row captain chairs. The displayed EV version features a front-motor front-wheel drive layout (contrasting with RWD in China/Hong Kong), rated at 231 PS (170 kW) and 310 Nm, with an 81 kWh battery delivering 505 km CLTC range. A REEV variant is also available with the same motor, a smaller 46 kWh battery offering 200 km electric-only range, and a 1.5L turbocharged range extender (116 PS/190 Nm) enabling a combined range of up to 1,050 km.
