BYD has announced an increase in investment for its Brazilian EV factory from BRL 3 billion to BRL 5.5 billion. The facility, located in the Salvador metropolitan area of Bahia state, is set to have an initial production capacity of 150,000 units annually, manufacturing both electric and hybrid vehicles. Spy shots reveal the suspected Dongfeng Yipai M7, a large five-seat SUV that will join the Yipai M8 to complete the product lineup, expected with Huawei's intelligent driving solution. The exterior largely follows the Yipai M8's design language with minimalist new energy aesthetics: closed grille with full-width LED light bar and split high/low beam modules. The side profile shows rising character lines, while the rear features a sporty spoiler with high-mounted brake light and full-width tail lamps; tail badges suggest the model name Yipai M7. Tesla's new patent was officially granted on September 29, titled "Electric Fan Car," expected to debut first on the new Roadster. The patent describes a rear diffuser design with fan devices including underbody air intakes, larger rear exhausts and multiple ducted electric fans that extract underbody airflow to boost traction. The technology is not new – Chaparral 2J race cars used rear-mounted fans in the 1970s. The new Roadster will feature a cold-gas thruster system (codenamed A71) developed with SpaceX, using high-pressure gas nozzles where the rear seats would normally be to enhance acceleration and cornering. The original October 1 launch was postponed to October 15 due to weather.
