Hongqi, a luxury brand of FAW Group, has signed an MoU with Quill Group, which has obtained the exclusive rights as the official importer and CKD distributor for Hongqi’s entry into Malaysia. Hongqi plans to launch officially in Malaysia in the middle of this year, with its L5 model for VVIPs only, and is advancing the global layout of new energy SUVs.

Geely Galaxy will debut the Battleship 700 on July 24, a new mid-to-large SUV featuring a rugged, boxy design language. Geely is set to launch its first ICE vehicle in Indonesia, the Coolray—a twin model of the Proton X50 featuring a unique market-specific configuration. The Indonesian variant adopts the pre-facelift X50 exterior while incorporating the post-facelift interior design, creating a mixed old-new aesthetic. Like the South African market version, both are assembled at Proton's Tanjung Malim plant in Perak, Malaysia, before export. The Jaecoo J5 EV has officially opened pre-orders in Malaysia, offering a single 2WD variant at an estimated RM 125,000—a RM 17,000 premium over the gasoline J5. The BEV features a front-mounted motor producing 211 PS (155 kW) and 288 Nm, achieving 0-100 km/h in 7.7 seconds with a 175 km/h top speed, significantly outperforming the ICE variant (1.5L turbo 147 PS/210 Nm with CVT, 0-100 km/h in 10.2 seconds). Following the Z9GT's Asia-Pacific debut, Denza has unveiled the Z9S electric sedan.
