Malaysia CBU EV Rule Finalised: RM250k & 200 kW Now Apply to All New Models from Jan 1, 2026

Geely EX2 Launches in Indonesia with 46.5% Local Content, 40.8 kWh LFP & Lower Price than Malaysia’s eMas 5
The Geely EX2—sold as the Proton eMas 5 in Malaysia—has gone on sale in Indonesia as a CKD model with 46.5% local content. A 40.8 kWh LFP battery assembled by Gotion supplies 395 km NEDC range. Prices start at IDR 229.9 million (≈RM54.6k) for the Pro and IDR 259.9 million (≈RM62.1k) for the Max, both undercutting Malaysian equivalents. A 116 PS/150 Nm rear motor delivers 11.5 s 0-100 km/h; LED headlamps are standard and the Max adds a power driver’s seat. Gotion is also in talks to build a plant in Johor, potentially future-proofing Malaysian assembly.
