A Chery Q electric prototype has been spotted testing on Malaysian roads, positioned as a B-segment EV hatchback to compete with the Proton eMas 5. Measuring 4,195/1,811/1,573mm with a 2,700mm wheelbase, it is larger than the eMas 5. The Thailand-spec features a 122hp rear motor with a 41.278kWh LFP battery delivering 400km NEDC range (340km WLTP), supporting 85kW DC fast charging (30-80% in 16 minutes). Features include an 8.8-inch instrument display, 15.6-inch touchscreen, 50W wireless charging, 360-degree camera and powered tailgate (375L + 70L front). Expected under RM100,000 but priced above the eMas 5.

Changan officially launched the UNI-V hybrid on September 12 with two models at official prices of 114,900-119,900 yuan and limited-time prices of 109,900-113,900 yuan. The exterior continues the fuel version design with a closed front grille, three-section air intakes, dual four-exhaust outlets, connected taillights and a standard electric rear spoiler. Dimensions are 4,740/1,838/1,435mm with a 2,750mm wheelbase. Interior features 256-color ambient lighting, sport seats with 3-mode driver ventilation/heating, SUPER RACE 3.0 track mode, Tencent TTI Sound AI audio, 18 speakers, Dolby Atmos and ENC active noise cancellation. Boot space is 465L, expandable to 1,090L. The 1.5L hybrid powertrain (engine 110kW/220Nm, motor 180kW) delivers 0-100km/h in 6.98 seconds with 4.28L/100km WLTC combined fuel consumption.

Toyota has unveiled the all-new electric C-HR+, a crossover SUV set to launch in Europe later this year. Built on the e-TNGA platform, the C-HR+ is entirely independent of the combustion-engined C-HR. It offers three powertrain options: the base model features a 57.7kWh battery and front-mounted motor with 167 PS, achieving 0-100km/h in 8.6 seconds and a WLTP range of 455km. The mid-range model upgrades to a 77kWh battery with 224 PS, reaching 0-100km/h in 7.4 seconds and offering 600km of range. The top-tier dual-motor AWD variant produces 343 PS, accelerates to 100km/h in 5.2 seconds, and has a range of 525km. The C-HR+ measures 4,520mm x 1,870mm x 1,595mm with a 2,750mm wheelbase. It features a “Hammerhead” front design, a 14-inch touchscreen, high-mounted digital instrument cluster, and 416 litres of cargo space. The vehicle is equipped with Toyota Safety Sense as standard.

Spy shots of the Audi RS Q5 Sportback have surfaced for the first time. The model features a unique large-mouth grille with horizontal trim and mesh texture, brake cooling vents on the front bumper and widened wheel arches. The rear bumper gets a redesign with dual exhaust outlets. Power comes from the RS 5's 2.9L twin-turbo V6 plug-in hybrid system with a 25.9kWh battery, achieving a top speed of 250km/h. Interior is expected to follow the Q5 Sportback layout with RS-specific badges, sport steering wheel and sports seats.

Mercedes-Benz Malaysia has announced the CLA 200 AMG Line pre-order price at RM275,000 with Agility+ financing from RM2,888/month. The model features a 1.5L turbo-four with 48V mild-hybrid, where the electric motor is integrated into the 8G-eDCT dual-clutch gearbox, producing combined output of 184PS/330Nm driving the front wheels. The gasoline engine produces 163PS/250Nm with the motor adding 30PS/200Nm, supporting pure electric short-distance driving and energy recovery. The exterior maintains the CLA's low-slung four-door coupe silhouette with AMG Line sports bodykit. Interior features the new generation digital cockpit with MBUX. Together with the CLA 250+ pure EV, the CLA 200 mild-hybrid completes the new CLA lineup in Malaysia.

Toyota Motor Europe presented its hydrogen strategy at IAA Transportation 2026 in Hannover. Partnering with Scania, Toyota will supply third-generation fuel cell systems for 40 heavy-duty trucks in the Pilot Partner programme, operating from Q1 2027. With IVECO through the EU-funded EMPOWER project, Toyota provides the 300kW fuel cell system for the IVECO S-eWay Fuel Cell with over 900km range and 25,000-hour durability, with validation starting Q4 2026. Toyota also signed a binding agreement to join cellcentric as an equal shareholder with Volvo Group and Daimler Truck AG. The third-generation fuel cell system delivers twice the output, twice the durability and 20% better fuel efficiency. Toyota Gazoo Racing plans to enter a fuel cell Hilux in the 2027 Dakar Rally's Future Mission 1000 category, with the production Hilux Fuel Cell launching in 2028 offering over 400km range and 2.5-tonne towing capacity.
