Geely Riddara Thailand is evaluating plans for a local EV production facility following its October 2024 market entry with the RD6 electric pick-up. General manager Cao Feng expressed confidence in the long-term growth potential of BEV pick-ups despite current market slowdowns, citing superior energy efficiency over fossil fuel counterparts. The RD6 is priced between 899,000-1,299,000 baht, offering RWD and dual-motor 4WD variants with 63-86 kWh batteries, 815 mm wading depth and 1,030 kg payload capacity. The company targets 3,000-5,000 unit sales this year with new single-cab fleet variants, while exploring expansion into Myanmar, Laos, the Philippines and Malaysia.

ARCFOX has confirmed the new Alpha S5 mid-size sedan will launch on March 18, following the opening of pre-sales for six variants priced between 117,800 and 178,800 yuan (109,800-168,800 yuan after subsidies). EP Manufacturing Berhad (EPMB) has commenced production of the MG S5 EV at its Pegoh, Melaka Plant 2, marking SAIC's first locally-assembled model in Malaysia. The facility serves as a CKD hub for Chinese brands including GWM, Xpeng and BAIC. The MG S5 EV targets monthly output of 120-180 units, with annual production estimated at 1,500-2,000 units this year, including exports to ASEAN and left-hand-drive markets. Xpeng's G6, X9 and X9 PowerX REEV are scheduled to begin production by month-end, while BAIC's X55 and BJ40 Plus have completed pilot production under a 10-year contract assembly agreement.

Zeekr has announced the European launch of the 2026 Zeekr X in May, featuring new Golden Battery technology with DC fast charging increased from 150kW to 230kW, enabling 10%-80% charge in 18 minutes. Available in 61kWh and 66kWh capacities with CLTC ranges of 512-530km. Powertrain upgrades boost Long Range RWD output to 340PS and Privilege AWD to 496PS/573Nm. Alpine CEO Philippe Krief confirmed the next-generation A110 will debut later this year on the Alpine Performance Platform (APP), featuring a dual-motor rear-wheel-drive electric powertrain with 40:60 weight distribution via dual battery packs. The aluminium-intensive architecture is engineered to accommodate an internal combustion engine, providing flexibility to adapt to evolving emissions legislation and enter markets with less advanced electrification demands.
