Spy shots of Hyundai's all-new Elantra (codename CN8c) have surfaced in China, with the overseas version (CN8) having premiered in June. As the eighth-generation model, it receives comprehensive upgrades to exterior, interior and powertrain while closely mirroring the global design. The new model features Hyundai's "Art of Steel" design language with sharp lines for a tech-focused, sporty appearance. Overseas dimensions are 4,765/1,855/1,425mm with a 2,750mm wheelbase, with Chinese spec likely to see further enlargement. The interior references the overseas version's 14.6-inch floating touchscreen and remote LCD instrument cluster running the Android-based Playos Connect infotainment system, with Chinese market localization expected.

A Chery Q electric prototype has been spotted testing on Malaysian roads, positioned as a B-segment EV hatchback to compete with the Proton eMas 5. Measuring 4,195/1,811/1,573mm with a 2,700mm wheelbase, it is larger than the eMas 5. The Thailand-spec features a 122hp rear motor with a 41.278kWh LFP battery delivering 400km NEDC range (340km WLTP), supporting 85kW DC fast charging (30-80% in 16 minutes). Features include an 8.8-inch instrument display, 15.6-inch touchscreen, 50W wireless charging, 360-degree camera and powered tailgate (375L + 70L front). Expected under RM100,000 but priced above the eMas 5.

BYD has officially launched the Seal 08 in China, with 8 variants priced between 229,900 and 279,900 yuan. Positioned as a mid-to-large SUV, the model offers both 1.5L PHEV and pure electric powertrains. The PHEV variant delivers a combined CLTC range of 1,650 km, while the EV version achieves up to 900 km CLTC range, with the dual-motor AWD completing 0-100 km/h in just 3.9 seconds. Key features include second-generation Blade Battery, rear-wheel steering, Cloud Ride-A air suspension, and Tian Shen Zhi Yan 5.0 intelligent driving system. The launch marks BYD's expansion into the competitive mid-to-large family SUV segment.

Li Auto reported August 2026 deliveries of 37,679 units, bringing cumulative deliveries to 1,801,834 units. The new Li MEGA launches on September 2 and Li i9 mid-September. The Li i9 is a six-seat pure electric SUV (5,225/1,970/1,752mm, 3,168mm wheelbase) with four standard LiDARs, dual motors (150kW front + 250kW rear) and 101kWh battery delivering 680-705 km range. In H1 2026, the Li i6 ranked among the top 3 best-selling vehicles above 200,000 yuan for seven consecutive months. Mahou VLA will roll out to Thor and Orin-X platform users in September. As of August 31, Li Auto operates 487 retail centers (160 cities), 533 service centers (218 cities) and 4,162 supercharging stations with 22,939 piles.

GAC Trumpchi's Yue 7 will launch on September 22 with pre-orders starting at 171,800-217,800 yuan. Positioned as a large plug-in hybrid SUV with a boxy design, it features dimensions of 5,045/2,004/1,933mm and a 2,900mm wheelbase with 230mm (310mm) ground clearance. Interior highlights include a 1.1-meter panoramic screen, 15.6-inch central display, Qualcomm 8838 chip, ADiGO 7.0 system and 20-speaker audio. The Ultra version adds a 192-line LiDAR. Powertrains include single motor (205kW) and dual motor (425kW) with 0-100km/h in 4.2 seconds, paired with 28.3kWh or 45.975kWh batteries delivering 161-261km CLTC pure electric range and up to 1,352km total range. Chassis features front double-wishbone and rear five-link suspension with dual-chamber air springs, SDC dampers, front/rear mechanical differentials and 9+X terrain modes with 780mm wading depth.

The Geely Xingrui L PLUS will open pre-orders on September 16, built on the CMA platform with both ICE and hybrid options. The exterior features the signature "Linguang Shuiyun" front grille with 31 vertical chrome bars. Dimensions are 4,956/1,915/1,505mm with a 2,845mm wheelbase. The rear has connected taillights with Geely branding and dual exhaust outlets. Seven exterior colors are available. Interior highlights include a 15.4-inch 2.5K floating central screen and 16.6-inch W-HUD (integrating lane navigation, traffic light countdown and more), plus Flyme Auto intelligent cockpit system and an EVA intelligent entity robot. Three interior color options are offered.
