According to 36Kr, Mercedes-Benz is developing a new EV platform codenamed 'Phoenix' using Geely's GEEA 4.0 E/E architecture, scheduled for production around 2030 to replace the current MMA platform for next-generation entry-level models including the A-Class, B-Class, GLA, GLB, and CLA. This marks the first time in the luxury brand's history that new platform development occurs outside Germany, with its China R&D centre serving as the global headquarters for compact vehicle development while the German base focuses on mid-size and large vehicles. The GEEA 4.0 architecture supports both EV and non-EV applications, succeeding the GEEA 3.0 debuted in the Geely Galaxy E5 (Proton eMas 7 twin). The move reflects Mercedes-Benz's cost-reduction strategy through deepened Geely partnership, following similar collaborations announced by Volkswagen and Stellantis with Chinese brands.

Geely Riddara Thailand is evaluating plans for a local EV production facility following its October 2024 market entry with the RD6 electric pick-up. General manager Cao Feng expressed confidence in the long-term growth potential of BEV pick-ups despite current market slowdowns, citing superior energy efficiency over fossil fuel counterparts. The RD6 is priced between 899,000-1,299,000 baht, offering RWD and dual-motor 4WD variants with 63-86 kWh batteries, 815 mm wading depth and 1,030 kg payload capacity. Audi has opened pre-orders for the facelifted SQ8 mid-size SUV in China, priced at 1.14 million RMB. Luxeed has announced its flagship V9 MPV will launch this spring, targeting the 500,000 RMB segment with rear-wheel steering (±7 degrees, 5.35m turning radius) and dual-chamber air suspension (50mm lift capability).
